New Delhi:  Manoj Patil, President of the Goa Badminton Association, took a unique approach to celebrating Independence Day this year. Instead of a traditional flag-hoisting ceremony, Patil chose to celebrate with 900 students from Auxilliam High School in Caranzalem, a school with a student body primarily from marginalized financial backgrounds.

Patil, a former Goa Ranji Trophy cricketer and a known figure in public service shared his experiences with the students, highlighting the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the opportunities that lie ahead for them in the “Golden Age” of India. He emphasised the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities, urging the students to explore the diverse opportunities offered by today’s education system.

This act of celebrating Independence Day with underprivileged children reflects Patil’s commitment to community development, a focus he highlighted earlier this year upon assuming his position as President of the Goa Badminton Association. He has pledged to prioritize youth development, literacy programs, and entrepreneurial initiatives as key pillars of his tenure.

By sharing the spirit of Independence Day with these deserving students, Patil who is associated with Rotary, Jaycees, and BNI, not only fostered patriotism but also ignited a spark of hope and aspiration, encouraging students to strive for excellence and seize the opportunities that lie before them.
