Guwahati, Aug 12: Assam Police has intensified vigilance along its border with Arunachal Pradesh following intelligence reports indicating the presence of United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) [ULFA(I)] militants in the area. Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh confirmed that central intelligence and local agencies have identified a ULFA(I) group camping near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

To counter potential threats, law enforcement agencies, the army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are working in close coordination. DGP Singh urged ULFA(I) militants to refrain from violent actions, assuring that security forces remain alert to any potential threats.

The increased vigilance comes as a precautionary measure to maintain peace in the region. ULFA(I) has been involved in armed struggles for an independent Assam, and their presence near the border has raised concerns about potential subversive activities.

With the situation being closely monitored, authorities are hopeful that the militants will not disrupt peace in the region. However, the police remain on high alert, ready to respond to any emerging situation.
