Tragic crash claims 5 lives: Five college students were killed and four others survived with injuries after the car they were travelling in collided head on with a container truck on Sunday night, near Ramanjeri in neighboring Tiruvallur district, about 65 km from Chennai.

In the accident, five people died on the spot, while 4 others were rescued with serious injuries.

Chennai: Five people were killed and three others survived with serious injuries in a head-on collision between a truck and a car on the Chennai-Tirupathi National Highway in Ramancheri area near Tiruthani on Sunday night.

The accident took place when eight people, including students from a private college in Chennai and the driver, were traveling in the car. Five people died on the spot. 4 others were rescued with serious injuries. Kanakamma Chatram police are investigating the matter.

KK Chatram Police said, five students died and three others were injured in an accident when a lorry collided with a car on the Chennai-Tirupati National Highway in Tiruvallur, near Thiruthani. The students belong to a private university. Investigation underway.

All the deceased hailed from Andhra Pradesh

Those who died in the accident have been identified as 21-year-old Kurdan, Yukesh, Nitish, Nitish Verma, and Ramkoman. The students named Chaitanya (21) and Vishnu (21) were seriously injured and admitted to a priavte hospital. Notably, all of them were from Andhra Pradesh.

The police investigation revealed that 7 students from Tirupati and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh were studying 3rd year of CSC Data Science (Computer Engineering) at SRM College, Chennai. The car they were travelling in lost control and collided head-on with a lorry while they were returning to Chennai after temple darshan in Tiruvannamalai and Andhra Pradesh.
