Ghaziabad: In a tragic and unusual event on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, a deadly accident on Tuesday, August 6, led to the loss of approximately 14,000 litres of milk, which was later stolen in a bizarre turn of events. The incident occurred around 3:30 AM near ABES College when a milk tanker traveling from Delhi to Gajraula suffered a punctured tire. The driver lost control, causing the tanker to tip over. A crane-mounted truck that was following closely behind crashed into the tanker, resulting in the death of Prem Sagar, the truck driver, and injuring his helper, Deenu, who was quickly taken to the hospital.

Thousands of litres of milk stolen

After the crash, traffic police moved the vehicles to the side of National Highway-9 (NH-9), which is part of the expressway. But the situation took a strange twist when a video started circulating on social media, showing people crowding around the damaged milk tanker. The video shows them opening the tanker’s outlet valve and helping themselves to the milk, filling up containers and buckets.

The tanker, which originally held 21,000 liters of milk, was left with only about 7,000 liters after the incident. The tanker’s owner, Atul Kumar from Mayur Vihar Phase 3 in Delhi, reported the theft to the police.

Ghaziabad Police registers FIR for theft!

In response, the Ghaziabad police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 303(2) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Vijay Nagar police station. “We have registered an FIR following the theft and are actively working to identify the suspects,” said Ritesh Tripathi, Assistant Commissioner of Police (City 1).

As for the tragic loss of Prem Sagar’s life, no separate FIR has been filed yet, as the police have not received a complaint from his family or associates. This incident has sparked concerns about safety and security on the busy expressway.
