The Madhya Pradesh government is targeting various sectors for investment and strategic partnerships: information technology (IT), information technology-enabled services (ITES), electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), textiles, aerospace and defence, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and medical devices

Even as Karnataka’s information technology and biotechnology minister Priyank Kharge welcomed quick commerce startup Zepto’s shift to Bengaluru from Mumbai, another state has been trying to impress and wean away investors from India’s IT capital.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Dr Mohan Yadav has been seen in Bengaluru trying to engage with prominent industrialists across various sectors to invest in his state.

The MP government is targeting various sectors for investment and strategic partnerships: information technology (IT), information technology-enabled services (ITES), electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), textiles, aerospace and defence, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and medical devices.

“The third interactive investment session aims to promote Madhya Pradesh as a favorable investment destination and foster economic growth through strategic partnerships,” said a statement from the MP government.

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy recently decided to establish its new and third manufacturing facility in Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in Maharashtra with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore, triggering a political slugfest between the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party and ruling Congress in Karnataka.

After Karnataka lost the investment to BJP-ruled Maharashtra, deputy leader of the opposition and BJP’s Arvind Bellad hit out at the Congress government for not doing enough. “The Congress government’s lack of effort and initiative is glaring. CM Siddaramaiah failed to even engage in discussions with this Bengaluru-based company. This inaction has cost us dearly,” he said in a post on social media site X.

The Madhya Pradesh CM also paid a courtesy visit to Karnataka governor Thawar Chand Gehlot even as the Raj Bhavan is in focus for reviewing a request to allow prosecution sanction against chief minister Siddararmaiah in the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
