Yogi government has also made its stand clear in the case of 69000 teacher recruitment. After the decision of the High Court, the Yogi government had called a meeting on Sunday. The government will not challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. A new merit list will be prepared for teacher recruitment. Yogi said that in the 69,000 teacher recruitment case, I was informed today by the Basic Education Department about all the facts of the decision of the Hon’ble Court. The department has been instructed to take action in the light of the observation of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and the decision of the Lucknow Bench of the Hon’ble High Court Allahabad. The Uttar Pradesh government is of the clear opinion that the reserved category candidates must get the benefit of the reservation facility provided by the Constitution and no injustice should be done to any candidate.

The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting on this issue at his official residence on Sunday. In this, senior officials of the Basic Education Department apprised the Chief Minister of all the facts of the court’s decision. The Chief Minister said that the reserved category candidates must get the benefit of the reservation facility provided by the Constitution and no injustice should be done to any candidate. Apart from the top officials of the Chief Minister’s Office and the Basic Education Department, top officials of the Justice Department were also present in the meeting.

Apart from the candidates, all the parties were keeping an eye on this meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence. Earlier, the Lucknow Bench of the High Court had ordered to prepare a new selection list by setting aside the selection list of 69000 Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination-2019 released on June 1, 2020 and the selection list of 6800 candidates of January 5, 2022. The court, while modifying the order of the single bench of 13 March 2023 in this regard, also decided that the candidate of the reserved category will be ‘migrated’ to the general category if he comes in the merit set for the general category.

The court has also said that the benefit of vertical reservation given as per the instructions given by us will have to be given to the horizontal reservation as well. Along with this, the court has asked to complete the process of issuing a new list within three months, without interfering with the decision of the single bench to reject the selection list of 6800 additional candidates of the reserved category on January 5, 2022 in the same recruitment examination.

The court has also directed that if any candidate currently working is affected while preparing the new list, then he should be given the benefit of the session so that the studies of the students are not affected. This decision was passed by the division bench of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Brijraj Singh while hearing 90 special appeals including Mahendra Pal and others together. In these appeals, the decision of the single bench dated 13 March 2023 was challenged.
