While most of Thailand’s beautiful islands will be experiencing heavy downpours in August, Bangkok, which is humid all-year-round, gets scattered showers during this time. It’s also off-season in the city, which means better hotel deals and possibly cheaper flights. Head to LV The Place, a new retail experience by Louis Vuitton that includes a swanky new store with a cafe, a restaurant by Indian chef Gaggan Anand, a boutique and an immersive exhibition space. For food, Bangkok-based typography artist and founder of modern-day souvenir shop, The Only Market Bangkok, Maan Sriluansoi recommends a Thai breakfast at Ega, Odean Crab Wonton Noodle in Chinatown and mille-feuille with palm sugar at French restaurant, Maison Bleue. See fireflies up close on a boat ride at the Amphawa Floating Market in Bangkok, which is open from Friday to Sunday (2-8pm)—an activity that’s a sure-fire hit with the kids.
