Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a two-year-old boy was killed after mud wall collapsed on him at Baibali village under Bhanjnagar police station in Ganjam district.

Rishi Pradhan (2), son of Basant Pradhan of Tota Sahi village, succumbed to injuries after the mud wall of their house collapsed in the early hours of the morning. But the heavy rainfall weakened the wall, causing it to crumble, said villagers.

Basant, his wife, and Rishi were trapped under the debris but were rescued by other family members who heard their cries for help. While Basant and his wife sustained injuries, Rishi’s condition was critical. Despite being rushed to the nearby Bhanjanagar Health Centre, the doctor pronounced him dead.

The heartbroken father, Basant Pradhan, attributed the wall collapse to the heavy rain that had weakened the structure. This tragic incident has left the family and the community in shock, highlighting the need for proper housing and safety measures during extreme weather conditions.
